Toyota RAV4 Wait Time By Model & Country (2024 Updated)

Toyota RAV4 Wait Time in the USA. Because of its modern technology, reliability, and affordability, the Toyota RAV4 is the most popular vehicle in the United States.

There is a shortage of parts and a high demand for new RAV4s these days, so getting one is quite challenging. It might take longer than expected for the new customers to receive their orders.

Due to my friend’s purchase of a RAV4, the shortage of cars began in the middle of 2021.

Buyers have no other options when there is so much shortage, so they turn to alternatives.

RAv4 waitlists are required if you have decided that you want one. Visit your nearest dealership and select the best option for you to join the waitlist.

The short list and the long list are now available, and you can choose any car from the shortlist. The long waitlist, however, requires that you wait until the end to pick up a vehicle.

There is a $500 to $1,000 deposit for a RAV4 in the USA, and most dealerships did not refund the deposit; only a few dealerships offered one. We will deduct the deposit from the final price; don’t worry about it.

A deposit of 10% is usually required by dealerships when purchasing an SUV. It is therefore recommended that you seek out another dealership if your nearest charges 10%.

Choose the dealership with the lowest price from multiple dealerships.

Toyota RAV4 Wait Time

Waiting for the next Harry Potter book is like waiting for the next Toyota RAV4. In order to help you cope with the wait, we’ve assembled a few insights.

You might have to wait up to 4 years for an RAV4, but don’t let that deter you. It takes an average of 9.9 months for people to get a job. Depending on your location and which model you are interested in, these numbers are likely to vary.

Taking a closer look at each RAV4 model’s wait time, let’s dig deeper.

By Model Year

  • RAV4 (Non-Hybrid): 5.6 months on average, up to 1 year.
  • RAV4 Hybrid: 11.1 months on average, up to 3 years.
  • RAV4 Prime: Expect to drive it for up to 4 years, or an average of 13 months per year.

Why is there such a big gap? There is more availability and easier production of a non-hybrid RAV4 than a hybrid. A hybrid or Prime version, however, is like the cool kids in high demand, which makes you wait a little longer.

Taking a look at wait times in various countries is a good way to get a sense of what to expect.

By Country

  • USA: The average wait time is 2.9 months, ranging from 0 to 18 months. It’s a good thing Toyota loves Americans! Your chances of getting a RAV4 might be better than you expected.
  • Canada: Get ready, Canadians! The average wait time is 12.2 months, but it can range from 2 to 48 months. Maybe you’ll find one sooner if you’re lucky and search a bit.
  • Australia: Generally, wait times range from 4 to 36 months, with an average of 15.5 months. It takes at least four months for even the non-hybrid RAV4 to make you tap your foot.

Do not give up yet, though. Check with multiple dealerships or explore different regions if you want to shorten your wait. It may seem daunting, but remember, even if it’s for a sleek RAV4, good things come to those who wait!

Understanding the Wait Time for Toyota RAV4

Just yesterday, it was easy to score an RAV4. It might be a while before you can upgrade.

Why has it taken so long? Here’s how they work:

Higher Demand

It’s harder than ever for production lines to keep up with demand for RAV4.

Limits on Production

It is sometimes difficult for factories to produce enough cars each day, resulting in delays.

World Events

Supply chain delays can be caused by global events, such as trade disputes or political tensions.

Automotive Part Shortages

The production process can be slowed down if even one tiny part is missing.

Natural Disasters

Hurricanes and earthquakes can disrupt production due to Mother Nature’s unpredictable nature.

Post-COVID Economic Recovery

There were a lot of issues caused by the pandemic, including the production of cars. There is a learning curve when it comes to getting back on track.

Labor Constraints

Assembly lines can sometimes run behind schedule due to a lack of skilled workers.

Prepare yourself if you’re eyeing a RAV4 Prime. Due to the complexity of making this plug-in hybrid, you may have to wait a bit longer than for other models.

Would you like to join a waitlist? Here’s what you need to know.

Getting a Toyota RAV4 faster

Toyota RAV4 Wait Time

There’s nothing better than getting behind the wheel of a shiny new RAV4, especially after spending so much time waiting. Don’t worry, there are ways to speed up the process!

The first thing you should do is visit your local dealership to see what’s available. You may find one with a shorter wait time, since each one gets a certain number of cars.

If you want to get your RAV4 as soon as possible, here are some tips:

Take a look around

Make sure you don’t stick with just one dealer. You may find your dream ride faster if you look around.

Get on the list as soon as possible

Don’t waste time. If you are interested in a RAV4, put your name down as soon as possible.

Sign Up at Multiple Dealers

Waiting lists can be joined for free at some places. Why not try a few places if that’s the case?

Be Flexible

It’s possible that you’ve been wishing for a cherry-red RAV4 with all the bells and whistles. Depending on your budget and color preferences, you might be able to grab one sooner if you are willing to compromise on those aspects.

Alternatively, you could consider purchasing a used RAV4 if you’re in a hurry. Sure, it might be a bit more expensive than a new one, but you’ll save time waiting for one. The demand for used RAV4s has also gone up due to the high demand.

What is the future outlook for wait times?

Toyota RAV4 Wait Time

Would you like to know what lies ahead for the RAV4 market? Looking into the crystal ball, let’s see what we can find.

According to the signs, the following is likely to happen:

  • There were approximately 1.1 million new cars on dealership lots in December 2022. According to experts, the number of cars will increase by 80,000 to 100,000 per month. It’s good news for people considering a RAV4.
  • A higher interest rate is causing more buyers to leave the waitlist. Those still in the game may have to wait less due to fewer people in line.
  • In November 2021, Cars.com reported a 7% drop in RAV4 production.

The Wall Street Journal reports that fall 2023 might be the best time to shop for a new car. How come? I guess by then, there will be fewer cars clamoring for them and more sitting on the lots. Buyers should be happy with this news, right?

What’s Toyota doing in all of this?

Toyota isn’t just sitting back and sipping lemonade. Behind the scenes, they’re working hard to improve the situation.

As a first step, they plan to increase production by 15% by 2023. The assembly line will produce more RAV4s and driveways will be filled with them.

In particular, semiconductors are in short supply at Toyota. The road ahead may still be bumpy even if they’re aiming for 10.6 million units in 2023.

Keep an eye out for updates as Toyota works to reduce wait times and increase production of the RAV4.

Now is the time to reserve your RAV4 if you’re ready to dive in. Your new SUV will be in your driveway sooner than you think.

The following information will help you reserve your spot:

A deposit is usually required when making a reservation at a dealership. As soon as the vehicle is ready to roll off the lot, this deposit will be applied to its total cost. Your local dealership can inform you of the deposit amount that applies to your vehicle. In general, you can expect to pay the following rates in different countries:

  • USA: $500 to $1,000
  • Australia: $500 to $1,000
  • Canada: $1,000 to $1,500

Depending on the dealership, your deposit may be refundable. If you decide to cancel, most deposits in the US are non-refundable, while in Australia and Canada, you may be able to get some of your money back.
